Student Success Stories

After completing our security and investigation training course(s) most of our students go onto successful careers in the security industry.

Here's a few examples of previous students from the National College of Security...

Maina Bower

Maina completed her Certificate in Investigative Skills (level 5) here at the National College of Security.

After graduating Maina went on to work for Farmers Trading Company in loss prevention at their St Lukes store.
Over a period of 6 and a half years Maina has climbed through the ranks with Farmers and currently holds the position of National Loss Prevention Analyst, she has also held the position of Loss Prevention Training Officer during her time with Farmers.

Maina has become a successful and respected individual in her field, she has done this through hard work and motivation from the day she started her study.  She feels that her qualification gave her the skills she needed to get her career going in the right direction.

Well Done Maina!

Nick Te Rito

Nicks history was in the military both here and in Australia, early in 2009 Nick applied for a security role with the New Zealand defense Force.

After his application Nick was told that he needed to hold his National Certificate in Security to be considered for the role.  Nick then contacted us here at NCS, the next day he started a course and also his path to getting the job he wanted.

Upon completion of his qualification Nick got his job with the defense force, after a few months in the role Nick was promoted to Deputy Senior Security Officer.  With this role Nick oversees the security in multiple military sites in and around Auckland.

Nick thought he had very little to learn when he came to the college but was quick to say that he feels he got a lot out of the course both in learning new skills as well as a polishing some old ones.

Edna Saena

Edna completed and graduated to gain her Certificate of Investigation Skills Level 5.  She is currently employed as a Customs officer with the New Zealand Customs department.

One of Edna’s goals on enrolment was to get off the benefit and build a future for her children, and another goal was to utilize the skills she has gained, and being able to work for a Government Department which has now become reality.

Edna was a mother who had only worked voluntarily at the Avondale Police Station for work experience.  She started on the course as a shy and humble young lady who has now become a bubbly and confident person, and is excited with her new job.

We wish Edna all the success for the future and are very proud of her achievements.

Brett Harrison

Brett completed his National Certificate in Security (level 3) and went on to work doing mobile patrol and door work.  After a short time, with Brett’s qualification, experience and his passion for the security industry he was given the opportunity to share one of his other passions, helping others learn.

Brett became a security tutor with us here at the National College of Security where he has been ever since.

Brett still does some door work and event security over the weekends.

Brett feels that his time, firstly here as a student and now as a tutor has given him a vast knowledge of the security industry and mountain of life skills he puts into practice everyday.
